Vintage Mid lock Folding Knife with color deer scene scrimshaw by Syd Davis of Richmond TX. The 3.5" blade has a bright mirror polish finish and nail nick. The handle scales are the old discontinued Westinghouse Ivory Micarta with beautiful scrimshaw scene. The knife has double slant dovetail bolsters very well done. The knife measures 7.75" open and 4.25" closed. Excellent fit and finish the knife has never been used and is in near mint condition with a couple of small holes in the bolsters. Many times a bar of steel with have some imperfections like little air pockets and they don't show up until the steel has been ground which by then the maker will either through it away and start over or make the knife with the imperfection. This was the case and should not hurt the value or operation.
Very rare Soldier Mini Mag Bowie serial #001 by the late Rod Chappel. The 5" 440-C s.s. blade is double ground with a unique beveled edge. The blade is 3/8" thick and has a chrome like mirror polish finish. The blade is engraved on both sides as shown in the pictures. One side reads " Roderick Caribou Chappel Soldier Mini Mag Bowie Serial #001" and the other side reads "1970 October 29" 1990 Mountlake Terrace, Wa.". S.S.-440-C. The handle scales are deep rich Desert Ironwood accented with brass liners, pins and lanyard hole. OAL: 10 1/4". The contoured handle fits the hand like a glove and locks it in real good. Rod was truly one of the all time greats his knives really stand out in a crowd. You will be amazed when you hold one in your hand its like no other knife get them while you can. This one is in mint condition with original leather sheath.
