Dave Murphy Gresham Oregon. Blade measures 5.25" with a high polish finish. The Handle is aluminum cast with premium walnut inserts. OAL: 11". The knife is in mint condition and comes with the original sheath. Dave and his father produced the first knives ever made for Gerber. I copied this short story below from Blade Mag. and Dave has passed away since then. The son of David Z. Murphy, founder of Murphy Knife Co, and maker of Murphy Combat Knives during World War II. Murphy, of Gresham, Oregon, worked for his father at a very early age. leaving the knife business when the company dissolved in the early 1950s, only to return to knife- making in 1981. Illness forced him to retire in 1994. He was a quality knifemaker and possessor of a keen wit who loved to laugh, always seeming to live life to its fullest.
