70's Vintage Ivory Scrimshaw and Engraved Hunting Knife By Andy Blackton. The 3.5" 440-C s.s. blade is hollow ground with a fine mirror polish finish and very sharp. The handle scales are beautiful thick walrus ivory with scrimshaw scene by Fred Harrington. Fred also did the deep engraving on the nickel silver bolsters. Fred does engraving the old fashion way with a hammer and chisel. Fred engraved a knife for President Ronald Reagan which was displayed in the White House Library. This knife sports a fine taper tang with finger grooves. OAL: 8" Andy has serial number 418 on this knife which is the order in which it was made. This is a very solid knife feels great in the hand. The ivory is a mellow kind of yellow and the mountain lion scene is awesome. The sheath is original form fitted but does show some wear. The knife has never been used and is near mint.
