This is a very rare set I call the big five. The husband and wife team Sherrill Shaw and Leonard Leibowitz took the knife industry by storm back in the 70's with their wildlife etchings. This collection which comes with a fine custom fitted display case was done around 1976. Each of the 5 makers made a limited run of 15 knives except Lile who did 50. Each knife is etched in gold platting on one side only. The Warenski has a buffalo horn handle. The Herron has a rose wood handle. The Lile is sambar stag. The Small is ebony and the D'Holder is desert ironwood. The gold platting on the D'Holder has become dark but very pretty with rainbow colors. None of the knives have been used and have been stored in this case for over 30 years. There is no doubt this is the only set like this in the world.
