Rare Ancient KAURI wood handle Drop Point Skinner by J. W. Smith & Sons. The 4.5" AUS-6 high carbon steel hollow ground blade is razor sharp and has a high polish mirror finish. The blade was deep Cryogenically Tempered to RC 58/59. The handle is ancient Kauri wood over 50,000 years old, accented with Leopard Jasper spacer and bolster plus handmade mosaic pins. The knife is full tang construction accented with blue liners and file work for thumb placement. OAL; 9.5". Excellent fit and finish The knife comes with a premium handmade leather sheath. The knife is sterile with no logo. Knife has never been used and is in mint condition. Note: Ancient Kauri has a beautiful and distinctive grain. When polished, the wood is a deep golden color with hues, textures and sheens that change under different shades of light. Ancient KaurI radiates its incredible history. While it is similar in density to cherry, with textures similar to basswood, it feels like no other wood.
